Kevin Bixby, Executive Director of SWEC, will lead an all day tour of Otero Mesa and teach how the ecology and wildlife of this very special place is threatened with oil and gas development. Along the way we should see pronghorn, raptors and other wildlife that take refuge here, one of the largest desert grasslands left in North America. Enjoy an optional ramble up the Alamo Mountain to see the petroglyphs of this archeologically rich area as well. RATING: Easy/Moderate mostly driving; to see the petroglyphs there is a moderate climb required off trail. 

Advance reservations are required and space is limited, so sign up early. All trips are open to the public; half the spots are reserved for members of the Southwest Environmental Center.
