There are few things more fulfilling than giving back to the environment. On this Back by Noon, you'll have a chance to get your hands dirty and help out at our La Mancha wetland project ridding the pond of invasives and improving trails. A fun activity for the whole family!

Be prepared to get muddy and maybe even spot beavers and herons that found a home in La Mancha Wetland along the Rio Grande near Mesilla. Join Sara Pahlas, SWEC’s Desert Waters Intern, at La Mancha to help maintain this habitat and discover what it takes to restore a wetland. For this "Back By Noon" we are collaborating with the La Mancha Volunteer Days where volunteers are needed to remove weeds, perform trail maintenance, trim trees and cattails, install tree fencing, and clear pond debris. La Mancha is a wildlife sanctuary that provides habitats for many native and migratory species; volunteers make this space available for people to view and appreciate the abounding wildlife. We will provide tools, shade and water.  RATING: Moderate for physical labor involved.
