Dear Governor Lujan Grisham,

I am deeply concerned that wildlife killing contests are far too common in New Mexico. These contests give New Mexico a black eye and a bad name. By keeping these contests legal the Land of Enchantment becomes the Land of Embarrassment.

Wildlife killing contests shame ethical hunters. Using animals for live target practice violates one of the core tenets of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation: wildlife should only be killed for a legitimate purpose. These contests serve no ecological management role, and disrupt natural ecosystems.

Please support a legislative ban on these barbaric contests.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen
