Land Use and Open Spaces

The City of Las Cruces Natural Resource ad-hoc committee will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. to gather citizen views on the utilization and protection of open space, optimizing water resources, and issues related to clean air that fall under the City's responsibility.

The meeting is scheduled for City Council Chambers, City Hall, 200 North Church Street.

The "community conversation" will consist of written and oral commentary from individuals and groups that will become part of the committee's deliberations as it strives to design a vision for the City Council's implementation. Subsequent public meetings will indicate how well the Natural Resources ad-hoc committee has listened to public comment, and will afford citizens additional opportunities for input.

The City Council established five ad-hoc committees to study action items raised during the City Council's annual retreat last summer. The committees will solicit public opinion on the issues of public safety, economic development, infrastructure, affordable housing and natural resources through several public meetings and/or forums with an eye toward developing a strategic plan for the City to follow.

All ad-hoc committee meetings are open to the public. For further information, please call Rosa Aranda at 541-2271.
