Las Cruces Woman Wins Prius

Connie Welles of Las Cruces was the winner in SWEC's 2012 raffle of a brand new Toyota Prius. Her name was drawn last Sunday at the Las Cruces Earth Day Fair at Young Park. Although not in attendance, she was able to rush down shortly afterwards to view her new car. This was Connie's first year to participate in the drawing and she only bought one ticket. She works as a contract officer for Dona Ana County. Connie says she heard about the raffle through the newspaper.

On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Southwest Environmental Center, we extend a big 'thank you' to everyone who purchased a Prius Raffle Ticket. As many of you know, this is our single largest fundraiser of the spring. This year we are ecstatic to announce that our raffle provided our organization with approximately $15,000 net.

Though the funds are much needed to support our work of protecting and restoring the wildlife and wildplaces of the southwest borderlands - we always find the drawing itself a bit bittersweet, as so many of you deserve to win!

Again, we thank you for your support. We know that many of you participate year after year not only because you would really love a new car but because you care deeply about conservation and the work we do. We will continue to strive to do your contributions justice with projects such as the La Mancha Wetlands and events like the upcomming Raft the Rio (June 9th) which raise awareness of our precious water resources.

And thanks as always to Las Cruce Toyota for making this fundraiser possible.
