Come to Albuquerque on July 17
Tell the Administration to protect Otero Mesa!
A Listening Session hosted by the Obama Administration in Albuquerque on Saturday, July 17 offers a great opportunity for people to speak up for protecting Otero Mesa and other natural treasures.
The event is part of President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors Initiative launched in April. The President directed his staff to travel across the country to listen and learn from people directly involved in finding grassroots solutions to conserve our public lands, waterways, historical and cultural resources, and reconnect Americans to the outdoors. New Mexico is one of a handful of lucky states so far to land a listening session.
If you can attend this event, please do so. You’ll have an unparalleled opportunity to speak directly to senior representatives from the U.S. Department of the Interior and other agencies. The session will be held July 17 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 p.m. at Marriott Pyramid North. Following an address by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, the participants will divide into small breakout groups to talk about the topic of their choice.
If you go, please be sure to voice support for protecting Otero Mesa as a national monument. You can talk about other subjects, but we to make sure the Administration hears the message loud and clear: New Mexicans want Otero Mesa protected.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants are asked to pre-register by Wednesday, July 14 by sending an email to americasgreatoutdoors@usbr.gov (or fax: 505-462-3794) with your name, the name of the organization with which you are affiliated, if any, your telephone number and email address. If you have questions, please call Mary Carlson at (505) 462-3576.
